Two local residents were among three people arrested by area police on Friday Aug. 16, in early morning raids targeting an alleged eight-county cocaine ring, according to authorities. Heather Mabry, 20, of West Caldwell and Anthony Quadrel, 21, of Caldwell, were arrested in the 5:45 a.m. Raids conducted under the auspices of the Narcotics Task Force of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, police said. Additionally, Craig Schornstein, 37, from North Brunswick, who had been spending time in Fairfield, and was under surveillance in the township, was subsequently arrested by Fairfield police in North Brunswick, police said. Authorities said the raids followed a seven-month investigation involving 25 police agencies and sheriffs' and prosecutors' departments in Essex, Morris, Bergen, Middlesex, Ocean, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties, the Morris County Park Police and a federal Drug Enforcement Agency task force. A total of 130 police officers were involved in the raids, in which 24 arrests were made and 13 cars were seized.

Five additional arrests are pending, authorities said. Police said in West Caldwell, Officer Daniel Gorman was assigned to the narcotics task force and executed the arrest warrant against Mabry; in Caldwell, Detective Marc Driggs was assigned to the case and executed the arrest warrant against Quadrel.
